Police in the Philippines say a grenade blast has wounded at least eight people south of Manila, while a separate explosion targeted police forces ahead of independence day celebrations.
A grenade exploded early this morning (Sunday morning) near an outdoor market in Lipa city, in Batangas province, wounding passersby.
Almost simultaneously, police say gunpowder used in fireworks exploded in a bus being used as a mobile police station in northern Manila. No one was injured in the second blast.
No group has claimed responsibility for the bombings.
A police spokesman (Samuel Pagdilao) told VOA terrorists were not behind the blasts.
