Rival gangs have clashed in East Timor's capital, Dili, where international peacekeepers are struggling to put an end to the fighting.
At least one person was detained today (Sunday), as Malaysian and Australian peacekeepers conducted door-to-door searches for weapons and rioters in Dili.
More than two thousand peacekeepers from Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia and Portugal were deployed to East Timor in the past week after a revolt by soldiers and police sparked wider battles between rival gangs.
Buildings in the capital have been looted and burned, and at least 27 people have been killed in the violence.
