일본과 중국 외무 장관들이 1년만에 처음으로 회담을 가졌으나 양국 관계를 진전시키기 위한 어떤 합의도 도출하지 못했습니다.
일본의 아소 다로 외상과 중국의 리자오싱 외교부장은 23일 카타르 도하에서 개막된 제 5차 아시아 협력 대화 (ACD)에 참석중 별도로 만나 회담을 가졌습니다.
두 장관은 양측이 모두 자국 소유라고 주장하고 있는 동중국해 가스전 분쟁과 고이즈미 주니치로 일본 총리의 야스쿠니 신사 참배 논란에 관해 논의했으나 아무런 진전을 보이지 못했습니다.
그러나 양측은 쌍방의 안보와 경제 협력 증대에 합의하고 정치적 문제를 해결하기 위한 방법을 계속 모색하기로 합의했습니다.

Foreign ministers from Japan and China have met for the first time in a year, but failed to produce any breakthrough in improving relations between their two countries.
Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Aso and his Chinese counterpart, Li Zhaoxing, met late Tuesday on the sidelines of an international economic conference in Doha, Qatar.
The two ministers discussed the dispute over natural gas deposits in the East China Sea, which both countries claim.
They also discussed Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi's visits to the Yasukuni war shrine. The shrine honors Japan's war dead, including convicted war criminals. China has denounced the visits as a glorification of Japan's wartime past.
No progress was reported on either issue.
But the two ministers did agree to increase security and economic cooperation, and try to find ways to resolve their political problems.
