Vietnamese officials say at least 24 fishermen are dead and more than 200 are missing after Typhoon Chanchu roared through the South China Sea this week.
The officials say the storm sunk at least six boats. They say it is unclear when they went down, but the last communication with them was on Wednesday. At least 60 people have been pulled from the water.
Chinese state media report the typhoon killed at least 21 people in the southeastern provinces of Guangdong and Fujian. That toll could rise.
