남한과 북한은 55년 만에 처음으로 경의선과 동해선 등 2개의 남북간 연결 철도를 시험 운행하기로 합의했습니다.
한국 통일부는 남북 양측이 오는 25일, 경의선의 경우 남한의 문산역에서 북한의 개성역 구간에서 , 그리고 동해선의 경우 북한의 금강산 역에서 남한의 제진역 구간에서 시험 운행을 할 것이라고 밝혔습니다.
이같은 합의는 북한의 개성에서 열린 남북 철도 도로 연결 실무회의 마지막 날인 13일에 이뤄졌습니다. 그러나, 이같은 시험 운행에도 불구하고, 남북한이 경의선과 동해선을 공식 개통할 것인지, 그리고 두 철도가 어떻게 이용될 것인지는 아직 불확실한 상태입니다.

North and South Korea have agreed to conduct a test-run of two cross-border railways for the first time since the peninsula was divided more than half a century ago.
South Korea's Unification Ministry said the two sides will conduct test runs May 25th on a small length of track on rail links on the east and west coasts of the peninsula.
The agreement was reached today (Saturday) on the final day of inter-Korean talks in the North Korean border city of Kaesong
Despite the test-runs, it is unclear if the two sides will formally open the railways, or how they will be used.
The announcement comes as South and North Korean generals prepare to meet next week for a new round of military talks.
