부쉬 대통령은, 7일자 판 독일 주간지, “빌트 암 손타그”지와의 회견에서 이스라엘을 파멸시켜야 한다는 이란 지도자의 위협은 미국과 독일의 동맹을 겨냥한 것이라고 지적했습니다.
부쉬 대통령은, 한 나라를 파멸시키려는 아마디네자드 대통령의 태세는 묵시적으로 다른 나라들도 위협하는 것이며, 따라서 그러한 위협은 심각하게 다루어지지 않으면 안된다고 강조했습니다.
부쉬 대통령은 또, 이란 정부가 논란많은 핵 계획을 중지하도록 강요하기 위해선 군사 행동등 모든 선택 방안들이 고려돼야 한다고 역설했습니다.
그러나 부쉬 대통령은 국제 사회가 열심히 노력하고 단합돼있을 경우 외교적인 해결이 가능할 것으로 믿는다고 말했습니다.

President Bush says the international community should take seriously Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's threats concerning Israel and Tehran's nuclear program.
Mr. Bush's comments were published today (Sunday) in the German weekly "Bild am Sonntag." The U.S. president told the newspaper that threats by the Iranian leader to destroy Israel are aimed at an ally of the the United States and Germany.
Mr. Bush says Mr. Ahmadinejad's readiness to destroy a country implicitly threatens other nations, and such a threat must be dealt with. He added that all options, including military action should be considered to compel Tehran to halt its controversial nuclear program. But President Bush said he believes a diplomatic solution is possible if the international community works hard and remains united.
