The Asian Development Bank has ended its annual conference with optimism about the region's economic future and a call for a better distribution of the wealth.
Asia's top economic policymakers met for four days in the Indian city of Hyderabad.
At the close of the conference, bank president Haruhiko Kuroda said Asian countries have improved in several areas including economic management and a strengthened banking system. But he warned that increasing oil prices could have a severe impact on countries that depend on imported crude oil.
Kuroda also expressed concern that despite the region's growth, there is a widening income gap. The bank president urged Asian nations to include the poor in the development process. He also called for improved governance and an end to corruption.
