유엔교육과학문화기구, 유네스코는 전세계적인 교사 부족 현상을 경고하는 내용의 새로운 보고서를 발표했습니다.
유네스코는 전 세계는 앞으로 10년에 걸쳐 적어도 천 8백 만명의 교사 부족 현상을 겪게될 것으로 전망했습니다. 유네스코는 이 같은 교사 부족은 오는 2015년까지 전세계 모든 아동들에게 초등 교육을 제공하기 위한 유엔의 목표를 달성하지 못하도록 만들 것이라고 밝혔습니다.
유네스코는 교사 인력을 68% 늘려야 하는 사하라 이남 아프리카 지역이 최악의 상황에 직면해 있다고 덧붙였습니다.

A new report from the United Nations' educational agency is sounding a warning about the shortage of teachers worldwide.
The U.N. Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Monday) projects a shortage of at least 18 million teachers over the next decade.
UNESCO says the shortfall could prevent countries from achieving a U.N. goal -- to provide primary education to all the world's children by 2015.
UNESCO says sub-Saharan Africa will face the greatest challenge and needs to expand its teaching force by 68 percent.
Chad needs to quadruple its teachers, (from 16-thousand to 61-thousand,) while Ethiopia must double its staffing.
Arab states will need to create 450-thousand new teaching positions, mainly in Egypt, Iraq, Morocco and Saudi Arabia.
Another 325-thousand teachers will be needed in South and West Asia, primarily in Afghanistan.
The agency urges parents and teaching assistants to help fill the teaching needs.
