이란의 마흐무드 아흐마디네자드 대통령은 핵확산금지조약, NPT가 계속 이란에게 이익이 되지 않을 경우 이란은 이 조약에서 탈퇴할 수도 있다고 시사했습니다.
아흐마디네자드 대통령은 국제원자력기구,IAEA로부터 이란의 IAEA 사찰요원들에 대한 협조문제에 관한 보고를 듣기 위해 열리는 유엔 안전보장 이사회의 회의를 나흘 앞둔 가운데 24일, 이같이 시사했습니다.
아흐마디네자드 대통령은 한편, 이라크 지도자들이 새 정부의 총리를 지명하는데 합의한 이상 이란은 이라크 문제에 관해 미국과 회담을 가질 필요가 더 이상 없는 것으로 본다고 말했습니다.
IAEA는 지난 달, 이란이 자체 핵개발 계획에 관한 모든 질의에 대해 모두 답변하지 않았다고 지적했습니다. 그러나 아흐마디네자드 대통령은 IAEA가 미국이 주장하는 이란의 비밀 핵개발계획에 관한 증거를 찾아내지 못했다고 반박하고 있습니다.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is hinting Iran could quit the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, if, as he put t the pact continues to be of no benefit to his country.
The president's comments in Tehran (Monday) come four days before the U.N. Security Council convenes to hear a report from the International Atomic Energy Agency on Iran's cooperation with I.A.E.A. investigators.
Last month, the agency accused Iran of failing to answer all questions about its nuclear program.
For his part, Mr. Ahmadinejad said the I.A.E.A. has failed to turn up any evidence of a secret weapons program that has been alleged by the United States.
Washington and the European Union are pressing for U.N. sanctions because of Iran's refusal to halt its work on uranium enrichment. Western governments say the program could lead to nuclear weapons. Tehran insists its aims are peaceful.
