Sri Lankan officials say three Tamil rebels have been killed and two soldiers wounded in separate incidents in the country's restive north.
The officials say troops came under two grenade attacks today (Sunday) near the port city of Trincomalee and returned fire, killing the rebels. They say the army found grenades, ammunition, anti-personnel mines and detonators on the rebels.
In a separate incident, authorities say rebels opened fire at a military patrol in the area, wounding two soldiers.
