5월 인도분 미국산 원유가는 17일 아시아에서 70달러에 달했습니다. 원유가가 70달러에 이른 것은 태풍 카트리나로 멕시코만의 석유 생산이 차질을 빚으면서 배럴당 가격이 70달러 85센트를 기록했던 지난해 8월 이후 처음입니다.
거래 관계자들은 유가 인상은 미국인들이 여행을 많이 하는 여름이 다가오는 가운데 휘발유 공급이 줄어들고 있는데 따른 것이라고 말했습니다.

The price of U.S. crude oil has risen to 70 dollars a barrel for the first time since last August. The increase is being driven by concerns about falling gasoline supplies in the United States and production cuts in Nigeria.
The price of U.S. crude for May delivery touched 70 dollars in (electronic) trading in Asia today (Monday). The last time crude prices were that high was in late August when they hit a record 70-dollars-85 cents as Hurricane Katrina disrupted oil production in the Gulf of Mexico.
Dealers say the rally in oil prices is a response to a decline in U.S. gasoline supplies just as Americans prepare for an increase in summer travel.
Crude prices are also getting a boost from unrest in Nigeria where rebel attacks have forced oil companies to cut exports.
