베트남 정부 관리들과 베트남 관영언론은 이웃 중국에서 밀수입된 조류에서 조류독감 바이러스가 발견됐다고 말했습니다. 베트남 지역신문과 보건부 관리들은 6일, 지난 3월 중국과 인접한 베트남 북부의 랑손 지방을 통해 밀수입된 조류에서 채취된 견본 서른개를 검사한 결과 그 가운데 하나에서 H5 바이러스가 발견됐다고 밝혔습니다.
이 바이러스가 지난 2003년 이래 전세계 백명이상의 목숨을 앗아간 치명적인 H5N1 바이러스인지 여부는 알려지지 않았습니다. 현재 중국과 인접하고 있는 쾅닌 지방에서도 마흔개 견본이 채취돼 검사가 실시되고 있습니다.

Vietnamese officials and state-run media say the bird flu virus has been found in poultry smuggled into Vietnam from neighboring China.
Local newspapers and health officials said today (Thursday) the Institute of Animal Health identified the H5 virus in one of 30 samples taken from poultry smuggled through the northern border province of Lang Son in March.
It is not known if the virus is the deadly H5N1 strain of bird flu that has killed more than 100 people worldwide since 2003.
Tests are under way on another 40 samples from Quang Ninh province, bordering China.
Bird flu has killed 42 people in Vietnam. No new poultry outbreaks have been reported since December, and no human cases since November.
The agriculture ministry has warned that poultry smuggling from China is a threat to Vietnam. Hanoi recently increased border control efforts.
