한국과 우즈베키스탄은, 우즈베키스탄내 유전과 가스전의 공동탐사와 개발을 위해 협력하기로 합의했습니다.
한국을 방문한 우즈베키스탄의 이슬람 카리모프 대통령은 29일, 서울에서, 한국의 노무현 대통령과 정상회담을 갖고 이같이 합의했습니다. 두 나라는 우즈베키스탄의 유전 두 곳을 공동탐사하고, 가스전 한 곳을 공동으로 개발합니다.
한국은 또한, 우즈베키스탄의 광물자원 탐사에도 협력하기로 동의했습니다. 우즈베키스탄의 카리모프 대통령은 최근 인권탄압 혐의로 비판을 받고있습니다. 인권단체들은, 지난해 5월, 반정부 인사들에 대한 우즈베키스탄 군의 탄압과정에서 수백명의 민간인들이 살해됐다고 말하고 있습니다.

South Korea and Uzbekistan have agreed to cooperate on the exploration and development of oil and gas fields in the central Asian country.
The deals were reached during a summit between Uzbek President Islam Karimov and his South Korean counterpart, Roh Moo-hyun, in Seoul today (Wednesday).
The countries will work together to explore two oil fields and develop a gas field in Uzbekistan. South Korea also agreed to explore mineral deposits in Uzbekistan.
Mr. Karimov has come under fire for his country's alleged human rights abuses. Rights groups say the military killed hundreds of civilians in a crackdown on dissent last May.
Uzbekistan and South Korea established diplomatic ties in 1992. Mr. Roh made his first visit to Uzbekistan in May of last year.
Some 200-thousand ethnic Koreans live in Uzbekistan.
