유엔 안전보장이사회는 21일 이란 문제를 논의할 계획이었지만 상임이사국들과 독일이 이란의 우라늄 농축 활동을 중단시키고 국제기준에 부합하도록 하는 방안에 대해 합의할 시간을 주기 위해 연기됐습니다.
한편 이란의 최고지도자인 아야톨라 알리 하메네이는 이라크 안정화에 대한 이란과 미국의 대화를 승인한다고 말했습니다. 미국과 이란은 모두 이번 회담은 이라크에 안정을 가져오는 방안을 집중 논의할 것이라고 밝혔습니다.

U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice says she is confident the United States and its allies will reach agreement on how to pressure Iran to abandon sensitive nuclear activities.
Ms. Rice spoke after a meeting with Caribbean foreign ministers. She said diplomacy takes time.
The United Nations Security Council had planned to discuss Iran Tuesday. But that session was postponed to give the five permanent Council members and Germany more time to agree on how to press Iran to suspend uranium-enrichment activities and comply with international standards.
In other developments, Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, says he approves of talks between Iran and the United States on stabilizing Iraq. The U.S. and Iran both say any meetings they may have will focus only on ways to bring stability to Iraq.
