이 위원회는 중국의 급속한 군사력 증강 및 타이완과의 긴장고조 등을 감안할 때 미국의 대중국 수출안보 문제가 특히 중요하다고 지적했습니다.
그러나 미 국방부의 기술안보정책 담당, 베스 맥코맥 차관보는 행정부가 국가안보 고려에 크게 중점을 두고 있다면서 지난 2년 동안 민감한 무기관련 기술수출을 허가한 것은 몇 건에 불과하다고 말했습니다.

A panel commissioned by U.S. Congress to monitor national security implications of trade between the United States and China is questioning U.S. export control policy toward Beijing.
Members of the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission attended a hearing Friday on Capital Hill.
Commission members said they are concerned that the Bush administration could be ignoring national security concerns when it approves exports to China of dual-use technology - items with both military and civilian applications.
They said the issue is particularly important given China's rapid military build-up and heightened tensions in the Taiwan Strait.
But Beth McCormick, acting deputy undersecretary of defense for technology security policy, defended administration policy, saying national security considerations are weighed heavily.
She said in the last two years, her agency has approved only a few of the more sensitive munitions export license applications for China.
