이로써 조류 독감으로 인한 인도네시아 사망자 수는 21명으로 늘었습니다. 세르비아의 보건 전문가들은 9일, 세르비아에서 첫번째 조류 독감 사망자가 발생했음을 확인했습니다. 지난 주 크로아티아와의 국경 부근에서 야생 백조가 숨진 채 발견됐습니다.
당국자들은 검사 결과 이 야생 백조가 H5N1 바이러스에 대해 양성 반응을 보였다고 말했습니다. 조류 독감은 지난 몇 달 사이에 아시아에서 유럽과 아프리카, 중동으로 확산됐습니다. 지난 2003년 이후 조류 독감으로 90명 이상이 숨진 가운데, 사망자 대부분은 아시아에서 나왔습니다.

Indonesia's Health Ministry says the World Health Organization has confirmed that a three-year old boy who died last month in Central Java province was infected with the bird flu virus. His death brings the nation's official fatality toll from the virus to 21.
Serbian health experts Thursday confirmed that country's first bird fatality due to the virus. A wild swan was found dead last week near the border with Croatia. Officials say tests run on the bird show it tested positive for the H5N1 strain of the virus.
Bird flu has spread from Asia to Europe, Africa and the Middle East over the past several months. It has killed more than 90 people since 2003, mostly in Asia.
