Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra is warning that political unrest brewing in the country may hurt the economy.
Amid calls by anti-government leaders for a boycott of snap elections, Mr. Thaksin said today (Saturday) in his weekly radio address that a capitalist economy is based on the country's confidence.
(Suriyasai Katasila,) A spokesman for the People's Alliance for Democracy today urged eligible voters to boycott the April second elections, and called for Mr. Thaksin to resign.
The snap elections were announced by Mr. Thaksin Friday after he dissolved parliament amid demands that he resign.
