한국 천주교 서울 대교구장인 정진석 대주교도 신임 추기경으로 임명됐습니다. 올해 75세의 정진석 신임 추기경은 한국에서 가장 크고 상징적인 서울 대교구장을 맡고 있습니다.
이번에 새로 추기경으로 임명된 주교들가운데는 또 홍콩의 조셉 젠 주교도 있습니다. 젠주교는 자신이 임명된 것은 중국에 대한 교황의 관심을 나타내는 것으로 믿는다고 말했습니다.
또 오랫동안 고 요한 바오로 2세의 개인 비서 를 수행한 스탄니슬라브 드지위쯔 쿠라크프 대주교도 신임 주교로 임명됐습니다. 그외, 카라카스, , 마닐라, 보스톤 보르독, 톨레도, 볼가냐등 전세계 여러 다양한 교구에서 주교들이 임명됐습니다.

Pope Benedict has named 15 new cardinals to help run the Roman Catholic Church, marking his first appointments to the church elite since he became pontiff last year. Benedict read out the names today (Wednesday) during his weekly audience at the Vatican.
The new cardinals include Hong Kong Bishop Joseph Zen. The bishop said he believes his elevation is a sign of Benedict's concern for China. (note to eds: this quote is from CR-bayron) Another new cardinal is the Archbishop of Krakow, Stanislaw Dziwisz, who was a long-serving private secretary to Pope John Paul II.
Other new cardinals are based in various cities around the world, including Caracas, Seoul, Manila, Boston, Bordeaux, Toledo and Bologna. Twelve of the 15 cardinals are under the age of 80 and will be eligible to elect Benedict's successor. The new cardinals will be formally elevated at a Vatican ceremony on March 24th.
