북한에 의해 납치된 일본인 문제를 둘러싸고 일본과 회담하고 있는 북한측 협상 대표는 5일 베이징에서 이틀째 회담을 마친 뒤 양국간 커다란 입장 차이가 여전히 남아있다고 말했습니다.
북한측 대표인 김철호 아시아국 일본 과장은 5일 10시간에 걸친 이틀째 회담을 마친 뒤 기자들에게 양국간 견해와 입장에서 커다란 차이가 남아 있지만 회담을 계속하기로 합의했다고 밝혔습니다.
북한은 1970년대와 80년에 13명의 일본인들을 납치했다고 시인했으며 지난 2002년 고이즈미 준이치로 일본 총리와 김정일 국방 위원장간의 역사적인 정상 회담에 뒤이어 5명의 납북 일본인들을 본국으로 송환했습니다.
북한은 납북된 다른 8명의 일본인은 사망했다고 말하고 있으나, 일본은 이들 8명에 관한 좀더 많은 정보 제공을 원하고 있으며 북한이 시인한 것 보다 더 많은 일본인들이 납치된 것으로 믿고 있습니다.

North Korea's representative in talks with Japan over the abduction of Japanese nationals by North Korean spies says the two countries remain far apart after a second day of discussions.
Kim Chol-ho told reporters after a ten-hour meeting in Beijing on Sunday that "big differences of opinion and stance" still exist between his country and Japan, but both sides have agreed to continue the talks.
North Korea has admitted to kidnapping thirteen Japanese citizens in the 1970s and 80s. It repatriated five following a landmark summit in 2002 between Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi and North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il.
North Korea says eight other kidnap victims had died. Japan wants more information about those eight, and says it believes more Japanese were kidnapped than North Korea has admitted.
