일본 주식 시장이 매도 주문의 쇄도로 주가가 폭락해 20분이나 앞당겨 조기 폐장하는 등, 아시아 태평양 지역 대부분 국가들에서 18일 주가가 큰 폭으로 하락하는 사태가 빚어졌습니다.
도쿄의 닛케이 지수는 2.9%인 464 포인트 하락해 15341로 마감했습니다. 도쿄증시는 매도 주문이 넘치면서 컴퓨터가 과부하에 걸리는 바람에 거래를 중단하기도 했습니다.
투자자들은 일본 검찰이 사기 혐의와 관련해 인터넷 회사인 라이브도어를 수사한다는 소식이 전해지자 대거 주식 매도에 나섰습니다.
서울의 코스피 지수 역시 2.6%로 큰 폭의 하락세를 보였으며 이밖에 방콕과 자카르타, 뭄바이, 싱가포르, 홍콩, 마닐라, 웰링턴 등의 주식시장도 하락했습니다.
이런 가운데 중국 상하이 주식시장만이 유일하게 2% 상승해 9개월 내 최고치를 기록했습니다.
한편, 달러화는 도쿄 외환거래소에서 17일 오후에 비해 0.25엔 떨어진 115.24엔에 거래됐습니다. 또 금 역시 홍콩에서 온스당 544달러70센트로 13달러 10센트가 떨어졌습니다.

Most Asia-Pacific stock markets closed sharply lower today, with a major sell off in Tokyo forcing the stock exchange to close 20 minutes early.
Tokyo's Nikkei Index fell 464 points, or two-point-nine percent, to 15-thousand-341. The stock exchange halted trading due to a surge in sell orders that threatened to overload its computer system. Investors sold heavily on news that Japanese prosecutors are investigating Internet company Livedoor for alleged fraud.
Other regional markets followed Tokyo's lead. Seoul's Kospi Index lost two-point-six percent, and there were also declines in Bangkok, Jakarta, Mumbai, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Manila and Wellington.
Shanghai was the only market to finish higher, with stocks rising two-percent to a nine-month high.
The dollar weakened to 115-point-two-four yen in Tokyo trading, down a quarter of a yen from late Tuesday in New York.
The price of gold fell 13 dollars and 10 cents in Hong Kong, to close at 544 dollars and 70 cents an ounce.
