중국 농업부는 남서부의 시추안성에서 가금류 사이에 조류독감이 발생했다고 보고했습니다. 농업부는 실험실 조사 결과 지난 12월 다주에서 죽은 채 발견된 1천8백마리의 조류가 치명적인 H5N1 바이러스에 감염된 것을 확인했다고 밝혔습니다.
농업부는 조류독감 바이러스의 전파를 차단하기 위해 이 지역에서 약 1만3천마리의 가금류를 폐기처분했다고 말했습니다. 중국에서는 지난 10월 이래 24건의 조류독감이 발생했으며 특히 사람에게 발병한 사례도 7건이 있었으며 3명이 사망했습니다.

China's agriculture ministry has reported an outbreak of bird flu among poultry in the southwestern province of Sichuan.The ministry says lab results confirm that 18-hundred birds found dead in late December in Dazhu county were infected with the deadly H5N1 strain of the virus.
It says almost 13-thousand poultry have been culled in the area to try to contain the virus. China has reported more than two dozen bird flu outbreaks throughout the country since last October.
Since then, authorities have destroyed millions of birds and mounted a program to vaccinate all of its more than five billion chickens, ducks and other poultry.
China has reported seven human cases of bird flu, including three deaths.
The virus has killed more than 70 people throughout Asia since 2003
