국제 사회는 이란의 핵활동 문제를 둘러싸고 이란에 대해 인내심을 잃어가고 있다고 국제 원자력 기구, IAEA의 모하메드 엘바라데이 사무총장이 말했습니다.
엘바라데이 사무총장은 9일 오슬로에서 행한 연설을 통해 유럽 협상 대표들에게 이란과의 핵회담을 계속하도록 부추겼습니다. 유럽 연합과 이란간 회담은 이란이 우라늄 전환 활동을 재개했을 때인 지난 8월에 결렬됐습니다.
엘바라데이 사무 총장은 이란은 협력과 투명성을 가속화할 필요가 있다고 지적하고 아직 해결되지 않고 있는 이란 핵문제는 내년까지 분명하게 정리돼야 할 것이라고 강조했습니다.
10일 국제원자력기구와 함께 노벨 평화상을 공동 수상하게 될 엘바라데이 사무 총장은 이란이 이미 핵무기를 보유하고 있는 것으로 의심할 아무런 이유도 없다고 말했습니다. 미국은 이란이 비밀리에 핵무기를 추구하고 있다고 비난하고 있지만 이란은 이를 일축하고 있습니다.

The head of the U.N. nuclear agency says the international community is losing patience with Iran over its nuclear activities.
Speaking to reporters in the Norwegian capital, Oslo, today (Friday), Mohamed ElBaradei encouraged European negotiators to continue talking with Iran. Those talks broke down in August, when Iran resumed uranium conversion.
He said Iran needs to speed up its cooperation and transparency, and added that outstanding nuclear issues should be clarified next year.
Mr. ElBaradei, who along with the International Atomic Energy Agency will receive the Nobel peace prize on Saturday, said there is no reason to suspect Iran already has a nuclear weapon. The United States has accused Iran of secretly pursuing atomic weapons, a charge Tehran denies.
