두자일 마을에서 140명 이상의 시아파 회교도들을 살해한 혐의로 기소된 사담과 그의 측근 7명은 유죄가 인정될 경우 사형 선고를 받을 수 있습니다.

The trial of Saddam Hussein has resumed at a Baghdad court without the presence of the former Iraqi dictator. Saddam's refusal to attend delayed today's (Wednesday's) public hearing in the case against him and his seven co-defendants.
At the end of Tuesday's session, Saddam threatened to boycott what he called an "unjust court" and told the judge to "go to hell."
Five witnesses took the stand Tuesday -- all concealed in the courtroom behind a curtain and their voices electronically distorted to protect their identity. The two women and three men recalled how they were arrested, tortured and jailed, following a failed 1982 assassination attempt on Saddam in the town of Dujail.
Saddam and seven of his former aides, who are accused of killing more than 140 Shi'ites in Dujail, could face the death penalty, if found guilty.
