일본과 미국은 현지 주민들의 계속되는 반대 때문에 오키나와 주둔 미군 재배치 계획을 변경해야 할지도 모른다고 아소 타로 일본 외상이 말했습니다.
타로 장관은 콘도리사 라이스 미국 국무장관과 대화를 나눈 뒤 현재 맺어진 협정을 시행하기가 매우 어려운 상황이라고 말했습니다.
미국과 일본은 지난 10월 약 7천명의 미군을 오키나와에서 철수시키기로 합의했지만 현지주민들은 더 많은 미군이 철수할 것을 요구하고 있습니다.
이 합의는 후텐마 미 공군기지를 주민들의 요구를 반영해 도심 외곽에 있는 오키나와 내 다른 캠프로 옮기도록 했습니다.

an's foreign minister says Japan and the United States may have to amend their plan to redeploy troops in Okinawa because of continuing opposition from locals.
Taro Aso said after talks with U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice that it would be very difficult to implement the current agreement.
The United States and Japan agreed in October to pull about seven thousand U.S. Marines from the province. Locals have demanded more troops be removed.
The plan would also transfer the facilities of Futenma Air Base to an existing camp in the province, rather than building on a site further from urban centers as locals want.
The Japanese foreign minister is on his first visit to the United States since being appointed to the job in October.
