세계 최초로 소행성에서 암석을 채취하고 이륙한 일본의 소행성 탐사선 [하야부사 호]가 지구로 돌아오지 못할 가능성이 있다는 우려가 제기되고 있습니다.
일본 우주항공연구개발기구는 29일 [하야부사호]의 자세 제어 시스템에 문제가 생겨 현재 조사를 진행하고 있다고 밝혔습니다.
[하야부사 호]는 지구로부터 2억 9천만 킬로미터 떨어진 소행성 이토카와에 26일 착륙, 암석을 채취한 후 성공적으로 이륙했었습니다.
[하야부사 호]는 지난 2003년에 발사되었으며, 오는 2007년에 지구로 귀환할 예정이었습니다.

A Japanese probe that may be carrying the first-ever samples from an asteroid may be stranded in space.
Japan's space agency says it has put the Hayabusa probe in a safe-hold mode while it investigates a problem with the craft's thruster system. Officials say one set of thrusters apparently has developed a leak, while the other may have frozen.
On Saturday, the Hayabusa touched down on the Itokowa asteroid, about 290 million kilometers from Earth. It is believed to have gathered powder from the asteroid's surface, but scientists will not know for sure until the craft returns.
Hayabusa was launched in 2003 and is scheduled to return in 2007.
