북한은 지난 8월, 유엔에게 북한에 대한 모든 인도적 원조를 금년말로 끝내라고 요구했습니다. 북한은 식량생산이 개선됐다면서 유엔이 인조적 원조를 정치적으로 이용하고 있다고 말했습니다.
세계식량계획은 국제사회에, 북한에 대한 식량배급활동을 11월 중순부터 중단할 것임을 통보했습니다.

The United States may suspend delivery of food aid to North Korea if the United Nations World Food Program is forced to stop operating in North Korea.
A statement issued Wednesday from the U.S. Agency for International Development said that without the WFP's monitoring and distribution systems, there will be no way to ensure that donated food benefits the people who need it.
In August, North Korea asked the United Nations to end all humanitarian aid to the country by the end of the year. North Korea said then that it had experienced improved food production and that the United States was politicizing humanitarian assistance.
The World Food Program has informed the international community that it will cease food distribution activities in North Korea in mid-November.
