미 국회 상원의 민주당 지도자는 부시 행정부가 미 중앙 정보국, CIA 비밀 요원의 신분 노출 사건에 어떤 역할을 담당했는지를 해명할 필요가 있다고 촉구했습니다.
해리 레이드 상원의원은 ABC 텔레비전 방송의 “이번 주” 프로그램에 출연해서 부시 대통령과 체이니 부통령이 이른바 미국 국민들에게 모든 사실을 공개해야 한다고 말했습니다.
레이드 의원은 또한 28일 사임한 루이스 리비 전 부통령 비서실장이 기소될 경우에 부시 대통령이 그를 사면해 주지 않을 것을 다짐해야 한다고 말했습니다. 레이드 의원은 칼 로브 백악관 부비서실장의 사임도 촉구했습니다.
로브 부 비서실장은 아직 범죄 혐의로 기소되지는 않았지만 현재 수사를 받고 있는 것으로 알려졌습니다.

The leader of opposition Democrats in the U.S. Senate says the Bush administration needs to explain what role it had in the exposure of a covert CIA officer.
Interviewed today (Sunday) on the ABC television program "This Week," Senator Harry Reid said President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney should, in his words, "come clean with the American public."
Mr. Reid also said the president should pledge not to pardon Mr. Cheney's former chief of staff Lewis Libby if he is convicted.
Senator Reid also called for the resignation of Mr. Bush's chief adviser, Karl Rove. Mr. Rove has not been charged with a crime in the probe but reportedly remains under investigation.
