중국과 러시아가 주도하고 있는 지역 안보 단체인 상하이 협력 기구 (SCO) 는 27일, 미국은 중앙아시아에서 병력 철수 시한을 정하라고 밝혔습니다.
상하이 협력기구의 장더광 사무총장은 이날 이 기구 회원국인 우즈베키스탄과 키르키스스탄에서 미군의 철수 시한을 알길 원한다고 밝히고 그러나 이 요구가 최후통첩은 아니라고 말했습니다. 장 사무총장은 27일 모스크바에서 열린 6개국 회의뒤에 이같이 밝혔습니다.
상하이 협력기구는 지난 7월에도 비슷한 촉구안을 내놓은바 있습니다. 그러나 키르키스스단은 자국 영토에서 미군이 철수해야 한다는 요구를 거절하고 아프가니스탄내 작전 지원이 필요한 기간만큼 미군은 남아있을 수 있다고 말했습니다.
상하이 협력 기구는 러시아와 중국, 카자흐스탄, 키르기스스탄, 타지키스탄 그리고 우즈베키스탄 등 6개국이 참여하고 있습니다.

A top official from a regional security group dominated by Russia and China says the United States should set a deadline for withdrawing its forces from Central Asia.
Shanghai Cooperation Organization Executive Secretary Zhang Deguang says the group wants to know the timeline for a pullout from member states Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, but said the request is not an ultimatum. He spoke in Moscow, following a meeting of the six-nation group.
The organization issued a similar call in July. But Kyrgyzstan rejected the demand that U.S. forces leave its territory, saying they can remain as long as necessary to support operations in Afghanistan.
Uzbekistan told the United States to get its troops out by January.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization is made up of Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
