이타르 타스 통신은 관리들의 말을 인용, 사망자들 중에는 약 12명의 지방 주민들도 포함돼 있다고 전했습니다. 관리들은 무장괴한들이 러시아 남부 카바르디노 발카리아 지방에 있는 이 도시의 여러 관청, 경찰서, 공항등을 상대로 동시에 공격을 가하면서 전투가 벌어졌다고 말했습니다.
체츠니아 분리주의자들은 무장세력과 연관된 한 웹사이트에 올린 글에서 자신들이 이번 공격을 감행했다고 주장하고 있습니다.

Russian news reports say more than 60 people, including 50 militants, have been killed in fighting between security forces and gunmen who attacked government buildings in the southern city of Nalchik The Itar-Tass news agency quoted officials as some 12 local residents were also among the dead.
Officials say the fighting erupted after gunmen launched simultaneous attacks on several government buildings, the police headquarters and the airport in Russia's southern Kabardino-Balkaria region. Chechen separatists claimed responsibility for the attacks in a message posted on a website linked to the militants.
Kabardino-Balkaria, along with other southern Russian regions, has seen a rise in Islamic extremist movements and violence targeting police, soldiers and other law enforcement officials. Much of the violence is linked to the conflict in breakaway Chechnya.
