The U.S. central bank raised the key interest rate one quarter of a percent today (Tuesday), in an effort to fend off inflation.
The decision moved the key interest rate to 3.75 percent. It is the 11th time the Federal Reserve has boosted interest rates in the past 15 months.
Fed officials signaled they are likely to continue gradually raising interest rates.
