China has rejected a Vatican invitation that asked four Chinese bishops to travel to Rome next month for a Roman Catholic Church meeting.
Despite indications this year that a 50-year chill between Beijing and the Vatican might be easing, China's state-controlled Catholic Church says the invitation to the bishops is unacceptable and "shows no respect" for Chinese Catholics.
