분석가들은 미국의 가솔린 재고량이 떨어지고 미국내 원유 생산 시설에 대한 폭풍 위협으로 유가가 상승했다고 지적했습니다.
한편, 국제 통화 기금 IMF는 국제 유가 인상이 아시아 국가들의 경제 성장에 악영향을 미칠것이라고 지적하고 특히 인도네시아와 필리핀의 인플레이션 발생 가능성을 경고했습니다.
원유가격은 지난 1년동안 55%가 올랐습니다. 그러나 인플레이션을 감안하면 그 가격은 25년전에 비해 아직도 크게 낮은 편입니다.

World oil prices surged to an all-time high in Asian trading today (Thursday).
Crude oil for October delivery hit 68 dollars a barrel in trading in Singapore, before slightly easing to 67 dollars and 55 cents.
Analysts blame the price-surge on a storm threatening key off-shore oil production areas in the United States, as well as a decline in U.S. gasoline stockpiles.
Meanwhile, the International Monetary Fund said today (Thursday) that the rise in oil prices could derail Asian growth, and warned of high inflation in Indonesia and the Philippines.
Crude oil prices have risen about 55 percent in the last year. However, when adjusted for inflation, oil prices are still far below those of 25 years ago.
