인도의 금융 중심지 봄베이에서 4층짜리 아파트 건물이 무너져내려 11명이 사망하고 적어도 18명이 부상했으며, 약 20명이 현재 건물더미에 매몰돼 있습니다.
시 당국자들은 이 도심지 아파트 건물이 23일 자정 직후에 붕괴됐으며 경찰과 소방대원들이 47명을 구조했다고 말하고 있습니다.
그러나, 인근에 빌딩들이 밀접해 있고 거리가 아주 좁아 구조 활동에 어려움을 겪고 있습니다.
붕괴 원인은 아직 확실치 않으나 경찰은 이 건물이 지난 달의 장마 비로 안전하지못한 것으로 시 당국에 의해 선언됐던 곳이라고 말하고 있습니다.

A four-story apartment building has collapsed in India's financial hub, Bombay, also known as Mumbai, leaving 11 people dead, at least 18 injured and about 20 trapped under the debris.
City officials say the collapse (in the downtown Nagpada area) occurred shortly after midnight local time (Tuesday). They say police and fire teams rescued 47 people from the building, located in a crowded section of the city.
But rescue work is difficult, because of nearby buildings and narrow congested streets, which can only accommodate one fire truck or other rescue vehicle at a time.
The cause of the collapse was not immediately clear. But news reports quoted a police official as saying local authorities had declared the building unsafe following last month's torrential rains and had notified the residents accordingly.
