인도 서부지역에서 기록적인 폭우로 인한 수인성 질병으로 적어도 125명이 사망했습니다.지방 보건관리들은 이번 홍수로 인도의 금융중심지인 봄베이에서만도 89명의 사망자를 냈다고 말했습니다.
보건관리들은 대부분의 사망자들이 소, 돼지등 가축의 배설물이 섞인 물을 먹고 전염되는 수인성 질병인 렙토스피라병으로 숨진 것으로 보인다고 말했습니다.
이 같은 재해는 2주일 전에 이 지역을 휩쓴 홍수로 1,000여명이 사망한 뒤에 일어났습니다.

At least 125 people have died from water-borne diseases in the aftermath of record monsoon floods in western India.
Local health officials say the death toll stands at 89 in the country's financial hub of Bombay, also known as Mumbai.
They say the rest have died in surrounding areas. Officials suspect many of the deaths are due to leptospirosis, a disease caused by exposure to water
contaminated with animal urine. Other illnesses such as gastroenteritis, an inflammation of the digestive tract,have been reported.
The deaths from disease come after more than one-thousand people died from floods that inundated the region about two weeks ago. More than four-thousand people have been hospitalized.
