또한 토니 블레어 영국 총리는 런던 테러 대처 방안과, 이른바 ‘테러를 정당화하기 위한 회교의 왜곡’으로 표현된 현 사태에 대처하기 위한 방안을 논의하기 위해 19일 영국의 회교계 지도자들과 만날 예정입니다.
지난 7일 런던 지하철과 버스에 대한 테러공격을 저지른 자폭 범인 네 명 가운데 세 명은 영국태생 회교도들이었습니다. 또한 자폭 범인 네 명은 모두 알카에다를 비롯한 회교 극단주의 집단과 연계돼 있었던 것으로 알려졌습니다.
한편 가디언-ICM이 실시한 최근 여론조사에서 영국인들 가운데 3분의 2는 런던 테러가 영국의 이라크 사태 개입과 연관이 있다고 여기는 것으로 나타났습니다.

British Prime Minister Tony Blair and Afghan President Hamid are meeting today (Tuesday) in London for talks focusing on Britain's long-term commitment to Afghanistan following the ouster of the Taleban in 2001.
British media say the two leaders are to sign a 10-year cooperation agreement continuing Britain's economic and military aid to Afghanistan.
British officials say Mr. Blair and Mr. Karzai also will discuss counter-terrorism efforts, the recent upsurge in violence in Afghanistan, and that country's illegal narcotics trade.
President Karzai also is scheduled to meet with Queen Elizabeth and British Defense Secretary John Reid. Talks with Afghans living in Britain and with British Muslim leaders are also on his agenda.
Mr. Karzai's trip to London was planned well prior to the July seventh terrorist attacks in London.

Three of the four suicide bombers in the July seventh London attacks were British-born Muslims. All four bombers are suspected of having links to Islamic extremist groups, including al-Qaida.
The leaders of Britain's Sunni and Shi'ite Muslim communities have issued religious edicts condemning violence and the taking of innocent lives as anti-Muslim.
Meanwhile, a new (Guardian-ICM) opinion poll indicates nearly two-thirds of Britons think the London bombings are linked to Britain's involvement in Iraq. The British government has rejected the argument.
The attacks on three subway trains and one bus killed 56 people and wounded more than 700 others.
