유엔 인권 조사관들은 미국이 쿠바 관타나모 만에 있는 미군 테러 용의자 수용소 방문 요청에 응답하지 않고 있다고 밝혔습니다.
유엔의 전문가 4명은 성명을 발표하고 미국측의 무 답변은 미국 정부가 관타나모 수용소 문제에 관해서 유엔 인권 기관들과 협력하기를 꺼리고 있음을 시사한다고 말했습니다.
인권 조사관들은 관타나모 미 해군 기지에서의 고문과 임의 구금, 수감자 권리 침해에 관한 심각한 의혹들에 관해서 조사하기를 원한다고 말했습니다.
미국 관리들은 조사관들의 방문 요청을 여전히 검토중이라고 말했습니다.

United Nations human rights investigators say the United States has not responded to their requests to visit the U.S. prison for terror suspects at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
In a statement today (Thursday), the four experts said the lack of response suggests Washington is unwilling to cooperate with U.N. human rights agencies on the Guantanamo issue.
The investigators say they want to probe what they call "serious allegations" of torture, arbitrary detention and violations of prisoners' rights at the U.S. naval base.
U.S. officials say the investigators' request is still under consideration.
Guantanamo houses about 520 detainees captured in the U.S.-led war on terror. President Bush and top aides have said the detainees are housed in humane conditions.
But several U.S. lawmakers have called on the Bush administration to consider closing the camp, amid continuing allegations of prisoner abuse.
