Iran's state media say election officials have ordered a random recount of scores of ballot boxes from last week's presidential election, after several candidates complained of vote rigging.
The reports say the supervisory Guardian Council ordered the recount in ballot boxes from Tehran, Qom and Mashhad.
Meanwhile, journalists say authorities barred the distribution of today's (Monday's) edition of two pro-reform newspapers that printed a letter from one of the defeated candidates alleging voting irregularities.
Mehdi Karroubi, who finished third in Friday's polls, accused Iran's conservatives of rigging the vote to propel hard-liner Mahmoud Ahmadinejad into the June 24th run-off.
Former Iranian president Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani faces the surprise hard-line challenger in an unprecedented runoff this Friday, after none of the seven candidates received half the vote.
