이들 언론인은 언론의 자유를 즉각 회복하고 지난 2월 갸넨드라 국왕이 전권을 장악한 뒤를 이어 계속되는 언론인들에 대한 구금 행위를 종식하라고 요구했습니다.
한편 네팔 군 당국자들은 카트만두에서 동쪽으로 1백 킬로미터쯤 떨어진 한 마을에서 마오쩌둥 반군과 정부군간 충돌이 벌어져 정부군 병사 적어도 8명과 반군 6명이 사망했다고 밝혔습니다.

Nepalese police have arrested at least 50 journalists after scuffling with them during a protest against media restrictions imposed by the royal government.
The journalists were arrested as they marched near the royal palace.
They were demanding an immediate restoration of press freedom and an end to arrests of journalists that followed King Gyanendra's grab of absolute power in February.
Last week, the Vienna-based International Press Institute told the king in a statement that "the best antidote to the present situation in the country is more speech and greater discussion."
Meanwhile, army officials say at least eight soldiers and six Maoist rebels were killed in a clash in a village some 100 kilometers east of Kathmandu. The officials say the trouble began when the rebels fired on police and military patrol teams in the area.
