일본 축구협회는 북한과 일본의 월드컵 예선전을 관객 없이 제 3국에서 열도록 한 국제축구연맹, FIFA의 결정을 지지했습니다.
일본 축구협회는 오는 6월 8일 평양에서 열릴 예정이던 북한과 일본의 월드컵 아시아 최종예선 경기를 제 3국에서 열도록 한 FIFA의 조치에 대해 혹독한 결정이지만, 타당한 판단이라고 밝혔습니다.
가와부치 사부로 일본 축구협회장은 북일전 장소와 관련해 말레이시아와 태국, 싱가포르, 또는 중동 국가를 생각할 수 있다면서 자신은 말레이시아에서 열리기를 희망한다고 말했습니다.
그러나 가와부치 회장은 최근 반일시위가 일었던 중국은 적절치 않다면서 FIFA가 중국으로 결정하면 이의를 제기하겠디고 밝혔습니다.
FIFA는 지난 3월 30일 평양에서 열린 북한과 이란의 경기 당시 관중들이 심판 판정에 불만을 품고 경기장내에 병을 던지는 등 소동을 벌이자 북일전을 평양이 아닌 제 3국에서 관중 없이 치루도록 결정했습니다. FIFA는 또 북한축구협회에 2만 스위스 프랑의 벌금도 부과했습니다. 북한과 일본이 경기를 펼칠 제 3국 개최지는 다음 주 초에 발표될 것으로 보입니다.

The head of Japan's football (soccer) association says he supports the International Football Federation's penalties against North Korea for fan misbehavior. However, Saburo Kawabuchi says he hopes that FIFA will not schedule his country's June 8th World Cup qualifier against North Korea in China.
Friday, FIFA ordered North Korea to play the match in an empty stadium at a neutral venue because of fan misbehavior at two matches in Pyongyang in March. FIFA also fined the North Koreans nearly 17-thousand dollars. The world governing body said the match would be played at a neutral venue, but did not announce the stadium.
Japan does not want to play the match in China because of recent political tensions between the two countries and because of a past record of fan trouble in Chinese stadiums. FIFA is expected to announce the venue by early next week.
