한편 한국 정부는 황우석 박사에게 수여했던 제 1호 최고 과학자 자격을 박탈했다고 밝혔습니다 황박사는 지난해 획기적인 줄기 세포 연구로 최고 과학자 로 선정됐었습니다.

The president of one of South Korea's most prestigious universities has issued a public apology after a scientist at the school was found to have fabricated stem cell research.
The president of Seoul National University, Chung Un-chan, said today (Wednesday) that the incident involving scientist Hwang Woo-suk leaves a blemish on South Korea and the whole international scientific community. Chung said he will seek punishment for Hwang and others on the research team.
Meanwhile, the South Korean government says it has stripped Hwang of his status as the nation's first "top scientist." He was awarded the title last year after his reported stem-cell breakthrough. On Tuesday, an investigative panel said Hwang had no data to support claims that he produced stem cells from cloned human embryos. South Korean prosecutors say they plan to launch a criminal investigation.
