Jason: The dinner was so good wasn’t it?

Mike: Yes, it was. Oh! Here comes the waiter with the check.

Jason: How much did the bill come out to?

Mike: $50.

Jason: Here is $25.

Mike: No, keep your money. It’s been a while since we hung out, so dinner is on me.

Jason: Thanks a lot.

오늘 영어표현은 It’s on me입니다. If someone says, “It’s on me” that means that the person who said that will be paying the whole amount. This phrase typically used when something purchased is shared between two or more people. It’s on me라는 표현은 특히 식당에서 많이 쓰입니다. “제가 낼게요.”라는 의미죠. “The dinner is on me” 와 같이 말할 수 있습니다. A common place this phrase is used is at a restaurant between friends. For example, when you decide to pay for the entire bill of your friends, you can tell them, “Hey guys, the dinner is on me.” Another phrase that you can use besides ‘It’s on me’ is ‘I’ll treat you’. Here are some examples. “You’re my guest so the meal is on me.” 라고 하면 “너는 손님이니까 저녁은 내가 사야지.”라는 뜻이 됩니다. 또 다른 예를 들어보죠. “Hey, thanks for buying lunch for me last time.
