To lose heart means to lose one’s confidence or courage; to give up hope or get discouraged. Also, please keep in mind that the following expression ‘to lose your heart (to somebody or something) means completely different than the phrase ‘to lose heart’. ‘To lose your heart’ means to fall in love and ‘to lose heart’ means to get discouraged and to give up hope in something. Let me give you an example. Henry, don’t lose heart now. Keep on trying and you will succeed one day. Now you know what it means to lose heart right? Then we will now listen to the conversation for the last time.
