(Not) My cup of tea
Jody: Hey, would you like to go shopping with me tomorrow?
Roger: Did you say shopping? To be honest, shopping is really not my cup of tea.
Jody: What do you mean?
Roger: Well, shopping doesn’t interest me and plus I don’t like walking around the mall for hours.
Jody: Fine. I’ll ask someone else.

Jody가 Roger에게 “Hey, would you like to go shopping with me tomorrow? 라고 묻자, Roger는 “Did you say shopping? To be honest 솔직히 말해서 shopping is really not my cup of tea 나 쇼핑하러 가는 거 별로 안 좋아해, 내 취향에 안 맞거든.” Jody가 “What do you mean? 라고 하자 Roger는 “Well, shopping doesn’t interest me and plus I don’t like walking around the mall for hours. I’ll ask someone else.

오늘의 표현은 (not) my cup of tea입니다.

If something is not your cup of tea, you don’t like it very much and it’s something you are not interested in. ‘(Not) My cup of tea’는 좋아하거나 즐기지 않는 것, 내 취향이 아닌 것을 표현할 때 쓸 수 있습니다. Remember that you can take out the word ‘not’ and say that something is my cup of tea. If something is your cup of tea, it means that you like it and you’re interested. 그런데 (not) my cup of tea에서 ‘not’을 빼면 반대의 뜻이 됩니다. I can give you an example. If Jamie doesn’t like watching horror movies, 제이미가 공포영화를 싫어하면 you can say “Horror movies aren’t Jamie’s cup of tea. 오늘의 표현, ‘(not) my cup of tea’ 꼭 기억하시고요.
