Running behind
Jen: Is the keynote speaker here yet? I’m worried that we might leave our attendees waiting.
Alex: He is not here yet. I got a call from him telling me that he is stuck in traffic and will be 15 minutes late.
Jen: 15 minutes?
Alex: It’s going to be okay because luckily, we are running behind schedule so it should be fine.
Jen: Phew! Well if he arrives, let me know as soon as possible.
Alex: Sure thing!

제가 Alex에게 "Is the keynote speaker here yet? I’m worried that we might leave our attendees waiting. 참석한 사람들을 너무 기다리게 하는 건 아닌지 걱정돼서"라고 하니까 Alex가 "He is not here yet. I got a call from him telling me that he is stuck in traffic and will be 15 minutes late. 이라고 다시 물어보니까 Alex는 “It’s going to be okay because luckily, we are running behind schedule so it should be fine다행히 예정보다 일정이 늦어지고 있어서 괜찮을 거야.” When you are running behind it means that you are late or falling behind the scheduled plan to complete something. 이럴 때는 “We are running behind schedule and if we don't hurry up, we will miss the train. When something is behind schedule, it refers to having failed to do something by the appointed time, especially the time given on a written plan. We have to finish soon or we will fall behind schedule과같이 말 할 수 있습니다. “The project is behind schedule by six months” 이 문장은요 “이 프로젝트는 이미 육 개월이나 늦어졌어”라는 의미입니다.
