Have you ever heard this before? I’m starving. “Let’s grab a bite.” GRAB A BITE // That’s today’s phrase that I’ll be teaching you today. 오늘의 영어 표현은Grab a bite입니다. Let’s listen closely to today’s conversation.

Claudia: All this talk about food is making me hungry.
Howard: Yeah - I’m starving, too!
Claudia: Do you want to grab a bite?
Howard: Sounds good.
Claudia는Howard에게 “All this talk about food is making me hungry “음식에 대해 대화하다 보니까 배가 고파”라고 하네요. 하나씩 살펴보면, ‘All this talk about food’ 음식에 관한 우리 대화가 ‘is making me hungry’ 나를 배고프게 하네 라는 뜻입니다. Claudia의 말을 들은 Howard은 “Yeah 그러게” “I’m starving, too! 나도 아주 배고프다”라고 대답하네요. 그러자Claudia는 “Do you want to grab a bite? 뭐 조금 간단히 먹으러 갈래?” 라고니까 Howard은 “Sounds good. 좋은 생각이야”라고 대답하죠

오늘의 영어 표현 Grab a bite / grab, G R A B / a A / bite B I T E. Grab a bite는 빨리 간단하게 뭔가를 먹자고 할 때 쓰는 표현입니다. When you say you want to grab a bite, it means that you want to eat right away, or that you’re interested in eating quickly. Grab는 뭔가를 움켜잡는 것을 의미하고, bite는 명사로 ‘한 입’ 이란 뜻입니다. 다시 말해 ‘빠르고 간단하게 먹다’ 라는 뜻이 되겠습니다. 화려한 음식점에 가서 멋진 식사를 하자고 할 때는 이런 표현을 쓰지 않겠죠. If you want to make plans or sit down and have a nice fancy meal at a restaurant, you may want to say something else instead.
