안녕하세요 English with Yoo! 의 Jennifer Yoo입니다.

English with Yoo!
I’ll give you a daily introduction to some meaningful and useful everyday English words and phrases! So let’s get started today!

Get out of your comfort zone 입니다.

Comfort is easy isn’t it? We do things the same old way because it’s comfortable and we’re used to it. But perhaps it’s time to stretch those limits a little and try something new and get out of your comfort zone.

That’s what Lindsey has been trying to do for her husband, to get him out of his comfort zone. Let’s go ahead and listen to how Lindsey is getting her husband out of his comfort zone.

Get out of your comfort zone

Lindsey: So I’ve had to buy him things more modern jeans, you know…I’ve had to buy him shoes.
Jen: That must be hard because that’s actually having him get out of his comfort zone.
Lindsey: It is for him. Exactly!
Jen: It’s hard.
Lindsey: He is doing well, so I just do little by little. If I bring him in a tie, he needs to get rid of like four because he’s ties look kind of scary.
Jen: But you’re so kind though, to be really gentle and be patient.
Lindsey: You have to, you have to…

Lindsey tells me that for the past 35 years, her husband has kept most of his clothes and other items. He takes very good care of them but wouldn’t try new things and stick to the old ways of wearing his clothes.

그래도 Lindsey 씨는 ‘I’ve had to buy him things like more modern jeans, you know…I’ve had to buy him shoes.’ That must be hard because that’s actually having him get out of his comfort zone. 남편 분에게는 get out of his comfort zone 해야 하기 때문에 힘들 수 있겠네요.

Get out of your comfort zone, 인데요, get out of ‘~어디어디에서 나오다’ your comfort zone, 편안한 지역에서 즉 말그대로 하면 ‘편안한 곳에서 나오다’는 뜻이죠.

Get out of your comfort zone ‘

Now let me give you an example sentence in Korean and try to say that in English.
